Pietra Leccese, Tufo: working the local stone

Many of the better constructions new and old are made of Pietra Leccese a soft golden colored element: tufo abounds also and is easy to cut and work with. My home was mostly the simple tufo but we used some Leccese to rebuild some walls.  Here, a visit to a local "carver".
Many of the churches in the Salento are carved of this buttery gold stone.
